Arrive at Cape Town international Airport. Transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. Cape Town, known as “the Mother City” has an endless variety of shopping options. Elegant malls, antique shops, craft markets, flea markets and art galleries abound. Gourmets and lovers of fine wine have a treat in store!

Monday

After breakfast depart on a full day tour. This is Africa’s prime tour route to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, the most South Westerly point of the continent if Africa. Sir Francis Drake, the explorer, called it “the fairest Cape that we saw in the whole circumference of the globe.” At Hout Bay take a short boat ride to see the Seal Colony. After the visit to Cape Point return via False Bay with a stop at Boulder’s Beach to see a breeding colony of Jackass Penguins, before driving to the world famous Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. Enjoy a walk through the gardens in their magnificent setting against Table Mountain. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Morning Cape Town city tour and visit to Table Mountain (cable car optional & weather permitting). With its majestic Table Mountain backdrop, Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A harmonious blend of architectural styles reflects the tastes and dictates of the past. Between the high-rise office blocks, Edwardian and Victorian buildings have been meticulously preserved, and many outstanding examples of Cape Dutch architecture are found.

Wednesday

Depart after breakfast for Oudtshoorn. The route travels through spectacular passes, apple orchards, historic towns, mountain ranges and a semi-desert area before arriving in Oudtshoorn, the ‘feather capital of the world!”

22 September
Thursday

After breakfast visit the Cango Caves with their amazing stalactites, stalagmites and flow stone formations. Drive to an ostrich farm for a visit and learn more about these extraordinary, flightless birds. Visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch, famous for its cheetah conservation programme.

Travel via the Outeniqua Pass to the town of George and the Wilderness Lake District en route to Knysna. The natural beauty of Knysna, the lagoon, the amphitheatre of mountains that surround the town and the gentle weather al attracted earlier visitors and continue to attract visitors to-day. The Heads are two sandstone sentinels guarding the entrance to the lagoon and have, in the past, watched over many a shipwreck. The Knysna Forests gave birth to an entire timber industry and are still home to the elusive and seldom seen small herd of Knysna elephant.

Enjoy an evening cruise on the lagoon .

Transfer to George Airport and check in for your flight

to Johannesburg

On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport you will be met by a representative from Sakabula Safaris and tours. Transfer to your hotel.

Saturday

After breakfast, drive to famous Kruger National Park. The road crosses the high central plateau with its vast maize fields before reaching the escarpment and descending to the “lowveld” Enter the Kruger Park in the afternoon. Game viewing en route to the rest camp.

25 September
Sunday

Early morning game drive – you may see some of the nocturnal animals before they find a place to sleep during the day. Full day game drives in the world famous Kruger Park which covers about 2 million hectares and is unrivalled for its biodiversity. You may see lion, elephant, rhino, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, kudu…and many more species of antelopes and birds

OVERNIGHT: KRUGER PARK

26 September
Monday

After a last early game drive, leave the Kruger Park. The road winds up the escarpment before reaching the central plateau. The tour ends in Pretoria.

NB post congress tour runs in the opposite order, starting with the Kruger Park and ending in Cape Town from where you should take your return flight.
