Drive to the Kruger National Park. The road crosses the high central plateau, known as the Highveld, with its vast maize fields before reaching the escarpment and descending to the “Lowveld”. Enter the Kruger Park in the afternoon. Game viewing en route to the rest camp.

OVERNIGHT: KRUGER PARK (Dinner, bed and breakfast)

Saturday

Early morning game drive – you may see some of the nocturnal animals before they find a place to sleep during the day. Stop for breakfast. The remainder of the morning is spent on game drives in the world famous Kruger Park, which covers about 2 million hectares and is unrivalled for its biodiversity. You may see African elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, white rhino, giraffe, kudu, impala, zebra and a host of other animals and birds. Recently the park was extended to include another 1 million hectares in Mozambique, creating the Greater Limpopo Frontier Park. Transfer to a private park at lunch time. In the late afternoon depart on a game drive in an open vehicle. Return to the lodge after sunset.

OVERNIGHT: PRIVATE PARK (Full Board)

Sunday

You will be woken for an early morning game drive. The open vehicle offers a different experience of the bush with sounds and smells coming alive. The experienced rangers and trackers take you within close proximity of many of the animals. Return to the lodge for a late breakfast. Remainder of the morning at leisure – you may like to arrange with your ranger to go on a walk in the wild. Lunch. Depart in the late afternoon for the evening game drive returning to the lodge for dinner.

26 September
Monday

After a last early morning game drive and breakfast, leave the Park and drive up the escarpment to Sabie. Founded after the discovery of gold here in 1895, Sabie is now the centre of the forestry industry. Continue to Pilgrims Rest which sprang to life in 1873 after the discovery of gold. Take the Panorama Route along the Blyde River Canyon for breathtaking views. Continue to the high central plateau arriving in Pretoria in the late afternoon.
